Outdoor Ice Skatting

One of our favorite winter family traditions is to go ice skating on outdoor rinks.  Here are a few of our favorite locations:

Have you ever been to see the outdoor ice rink at Rockefeller Center in New York City?  Last year we had the chance to travel there with our kids and decided to go ice skating.  I thought it would be impossible to get into, (and it does sell out!) but we ended up going first thing in the morning and had a great time.

My son ended up being the photographer because he doesn't like to ice skate - so he ended up taking pictures of us and talking to my other son who is on a mission for our church and was calling in to talk.  They restrict how  many people can be on the rink at a time and have skates to rent - it was a lot of fun. 10/10 - put this on your NYC winter bucket list for sure!

Another fun location is the Ice Ribbon in Bountiful Utah.  It is a 520-food ice track that winds around a local park.  There are fire pits and fun Christmas lights at night as well as a place to purchase hot chocolate!

My youngest LOVES to go ice skating and so we took her to the outdoor ice rink up in Midway, Utah.  They claim to be one of the biggest outdoor rinks in the state.  Lots of Christmas lights and being up in the clear (and cold!) mountain air make this location truly magical.  It's lots of fun.
