How to spend a sea day & an excursion in Crete with your family.

A sea day is my teens favorite day because you can sleep in!  This was the first day we weren’t racing off to an adventure and my kids NEEDED the break!

Sleep in, have some lunch on the deck and go swimming.

We washed a few clothes in the sink and then we hung them up to dry for the day.  You can get strong magnetic clothes lines from amazon that work in your cabin room!

We also happened to have a formal night so that was fun to get all cleaned up and eat fancy food & go to a show.

The next day was our stop in Crete, Greece.   Crete is a large island so you have to get transportation.  We booked a tour for only our family that took us to the Agia Triada Monastery which was built in 1632.

It is such a beautiful and peaceful place!

The inside of the chapel is particularly ornate and beautiful.  The monastery farms organic olive oil, wine, thyme honey & balsamic vinegars.

Be sure to stop at their shop in the basement to purchase some of their amazing products.

And enjoy the cats that are all over Greece.  Many of them are very friendly.  And the locals feed them.  Not a lot of extra mice running around in Greece!

Make your way to an overlook over the city of Chania.  You can see the downtown and a beautiful view of the ocean.

The old town is a pedestrian only shopping area.  My teens especially loved the shopping here.  We found a lot of great stores with unique products!

Be sure to make it to the Venetian Harbor with more beautiful buildings, shops and crystal clear water.

Take time to enjoy a family style lunch from one of the restaurants at the harbor.

Just some of the local food at our lunch - Shrimp, tiny fish and octopus.  It was all super delicious!

Crete is a unique island with lots of history.  Our teens loved seeing the monastery, shopping and trying the delicious local food.
