Bonus Tips:

1) We always stay at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club - full kitchens so you can eat meals in your hotel rooms if you want to.

2) Always stop at Costco - we time our flights (we have used Hawaiian, Delta, United or Southwest - take what you can to get you to Hawaii!) so that we land in time to stock up with snacks at Costco in Kahului by the airport.

3) If staying in Kaanapali there is a Safeway in Lahaina for anything else you need.

4) We always rent a car from Alamo - we have had good experience with them and the rental car area at the Kahului airport is amazing - super easy to get to and they are really fast....which after a long flight you are so excited to just get into your car and GO.

5) Make reservations for restaurants before you leave home.  Available times fill up fast and just a little bit of planning can save you lots of time just waiting around.  If your plans change - cancel your reservation.

6) Bonus day idea:  Head over to Paia - its a great little town by Kahului that has lots of fun shops and galleries.  Get ice cream from Roselani Scoop (bonus bathroom stop after purchase....can you tell we have kids?).  Head up to Makawao for more boutiques and art shops.  Super fun way to spend the day if you are sunburned and need a day away from the water.

7) If you are flying home on a red eye, stay at your resort and relax at the beach or swim in the pools.  If you have kids - they get all tired out and if you are there with just adults its a great way to spend one last day in paradise.  Most hotels (the Marriott's do!) have a "courtesy suite" where you can go take a quick shower and change.  This beats driving around all day in the car waiting for your time to go to the airport!
